Enjoying Spring

The first official day of spring A took the boys out in the kayak. Since we have had more than one kid the poor kayak has felt a bit neglected, sad and lonely. The boys are getting to the age where they can really enjoy being on the water, and with Buntzen Lake so close by it is a great way to spend an afternoon. Welcome back to the family, kayak.

Always with the bare feet

big girl bed

L is away for the weekend. Daddy decided it was a good time to get rid of the crib for good. (Anyone need a well used Ikea crib and mattress?)

So here are the boys working on assembling the toddler bed.
I'll tell you what she thinks tomorrow. I hope she sleeps, I have visions of banging and trashing of the room. Too late, it's done now.
At least her quilt is finally out and in use. I might be enjoying this cute room all night tonight!

around here...

The weather is perking up this week. Here is what has been happening around here.....

K making block creations
and being silly
outside time in the sun
A little hip hop dancing.
R is in orange in front, second from the left.
This little beauty went to Grammie's for the weekend
This is the first full weekend in a very long time that A and I are both home. I think I will "misplace" my cell for the weekend to keep it that way. Hope you enjoy your weekend too.

I am sure it started out innocent enough. Daddy taking the boys to the beach so they could enjoy the relative dryness on a day he only had to work for the morning. A way to have a bit of fun while the baby napped (theoretically napped I mean). What actually happened was, well see for yourself.
All I can say is that I have to go start a big load of very sandy laundry now!

K splashing in the ocean and trying out his "straw"

R exploring the rocks

Slightly messy boys

I love my silly monkeys!

The week in review

Ok, not of this week but of the week before that. Things have been kinda crazy around here. Do I start every blog post with those words? Anyway, here is a snapshot (or three) of our life.

Nana and Grandad prepared for a trek to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon so we had a little visit before they left to say goodbye.

Here they are reading with the kiddos.
They had a nice trip but the weather was cool. The kids were very glad to see them again this weekend.

The other big thing was a soccer tournament for R that officially ended soccer season. Saturday I was at work, Daddy took them all to the game and it was beautiful weather. Like t-shirt weather.
R with his coaches for Team Canada

Sunday Daddy was at work, I pawned off the little ones (Thanks Jo and Auntie Nic) and R and I went to 2 games in the pouring rain with a team lunch and trophy session in between. He said of his participation metal "Wow, I didn't think I was good enough to get gold! Maybe Bronze or something but not gold!" And his trophy is proudly displayed on the shelf in his room.

It was very soccer-y weather. Chilly, wet and muddy. Somebody likes the mud. I had to strip him down before we even got in the car.

And that's it for soccer 'til September.
When it will be dry and warm, right?

a visit with Grammie C

My Mom always takes the kids one at a time for special time with her. We also enjoy the temporarily smaller family if only for a few days. This time I took R and L out to dinner just the three of us and it was enjoyable, shocking for small children and restaurant and one parent to be enjoyable but they were as good as gold.

K was treated like royalty at Grammie's as usual. Here is a bit of what he did.

I know this one is blurry but it captures his personality
