Bedtime conversation

K-Where you go to work Mom?
Me-At the hospital.
K-Why you go to work?
Me-I help babies.
K-Oh. Like when babies go like dis and fall down and break their leg?
Me- Yeah, something like that.

While the mom is at work the kids will play

I have been working a lot lately. Close to full time hours jammed into the nights on the weekend. I am tired. We are behind. And Daddy has been keeping the kids busy and out of the house so I can get some sleep. Cause believe it or not these guys can be noisy. Here is one hiking trip and some time in the backyard in a bucket. What fun.

Creativity

My oldest is many things, orderly, a perfectionist, a smarty pants, and very creative. Here are 2 of his creations from last month. The very elaborate Thomas track that the boys both enjoyed.
And a machine for getting bad robots (too many video games, I know!). It includes a catapult and shield. All created from things laying around the back yard. I hope he keeps developing his imagination.

Here is the whole family on the day R "graduated" from preschool. It was pretty late (8pm ish) so baby L wasn't super cooperative.

The big 5

Somebody's 5! It's birthday season at our house. And the big R turned the big 5 with a Lego themed extravaganza. He has never had a friend party so this was our first chance to try that out. We invited a ton of kids and all but 2 of them came. Yikes. But it went smoothly. Friends 9 and 12 year old kids were helpers and lots of the mommas stayed. The weather was great and we played in the backyard for most of the time. That means the house stayed clean for the family party the next day! In the end we have a ton of Lego, and Ry had a great time.

Lego candy for party favors, you can actually build with it!
Lego shirts for all the kids, and Lego medals they got for completing the Lego building contest.
Lego cake by Auntie N and Uncle G. They made equally impressive cupcakes for the kid party.
Opening presents in the backyard.
New hockey pads from Uncle D and Auntie S.

the sun is shining

Really it is a bit hard to stay at the computer when the weather is so great.  Not to mention shift work and some health issues which all contributed to my lack of posts.  Here is a bit of what I saw these last few weeks (mostly slathered in sunscreen reclining in my deck chair, I love having a backyard!)

Daddy created an outdoor shower by strapping the watering attachment from our hose to our backyard tree.

We also set the sprinkler up in the front yard to try and help the poor brown grass.

We had lunch at the park.
We had some cousin time for my birthday.  I love how these guys play so well together.  A cried when it was time to leave, she wanted to stay with her cousins, so cute!

We did a (very) little gardening.
And lastly these are my worker men, all decked out for some serious construction.  Please click on this one to make it bigger, it totally makes me laugh!

Contents of my pockets

I just emptied out the pockets of my raincoat.  Relieving them of the burdens that they accumulated during the last 2 days.  Contents were as follows:

one Kleenex, unused but crumpled
one grocery list
one gummy frog toy
one green match box car
